Earl E. Gottsman,
Professor Capitol College
Earl E. Gottsman was the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Capitol College in Laurel, Maryland. He held this position from 1977 to 2004. Under his leadership, Capitol College has developed several new programs with three baccalaureate programs in engineering technology accredited by TAC/ABET and one in engineering accredited by EAC/ABET.
Professor Gottsman has served as a team member and chair for Middle States Association for Colleges and Schools. He is currently a member for the Committee for Substantive Changes for Middle States.
He has been an active participant in the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and the Engineering Technology Division (ETD) during his 23 years of membership. He has chaired several divisions, boards and committees within ASEE including ETD, CIEC Executive Board, Manpower Committee of the Engineering Technology Council (ETC), Frederick J. Berger Award Committee, Merryfield Award Committee, and the Accreditation Relations Committee of ETC. He has also served as Secretary/Treasurer for ETC, member of ASEE Guidance Committee, member of ETC’s Long-Range Planning committee, member of ASEE Delegation to the Soviet Union, member of the James H. McGraw Award committee, and a commissioner for the Engineering Workforce Commission.
In 1991, Professor Gottsman was the recipient of the James H. McGraw Award for outstanding engineering technology educator from the American Society for Engineering Education.
Professor Gottsman received his Bachelors of Science degree from Ohio State University in Chemistry. Iowa State University conferred his Master’s degree in the field of Organic Chemistry.
