Get to Know Professor Ryan
- Professor Ryan was born in
Philadelphia, PA, but has resided in the Baltimore/Washington area for
most of his life.
- College Experience
- He started
his college experience at George Washington University in Washington, DC,
majoring in Electrical Engineering.
- After 3
semesters, he transferred to Capitol Institute of Technology (as Capitol
College was then known). He graduated with a BSET (Bachelor of Science in
Enginering Technology) degree.
- His
graduate work was at the Johns Hopkins University where he graduated with
the MSEE (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering) degree.
- Work Experience
- He worked
for 21 years with the Link Division of the Singer Company, manufacturer
of aircraft flight simulators, space flight simulators, and nuclear power
plant control room simulators. He worked as a digital design engineer,
training specialist, project engineer, and quality assurance
manager.
- Military Experience
- Retired 31
year member of the Maryland Army National Guard with the rank of Sergeant
Major (Signal Corps). He was responsible for the planning and
coordination of Division level tactical field communication systems using
MSE.
- Teaching Experience
- Twelve
years as a training specialist while with Link
- Nine years
on the adjunct faculty at Capitol College
- Fifteen
years on the full time faculty at Capitol College
- Family Information
- Prof. Ryan
has one son, one step son, and three step daughters. In addition, his
wife Gerda works as a supervisor in the reception and duplication office at Capitol College.
- Hobbies
- One of his
favorite hobbies is railroad history. He enjoys the website of the National Railway Historical Society as
well as the website of TRAINS magazine.
